The Ultimate Prize!

Let’s face it…when it comes to female soccer here in the United States the “eye on the prize” is still College Soccer…getting them that free ride so that they go to college on the Universities dime…

Since the rest of the world has yet to put in female soccer academies with the success and infrastructure of the male academies, our pay to play platform that leads through the college avenue is still superior to the rest…

So I was not surprised when I read the article below on Top Drawer Soccer…Basically, top college coaches for women’s soccer are now recruiting kids as early as the eighth grade…and it is regular practice to recruit freshmen in high school…

So we can sit back and be appalled if we want…but as you know, you can’t change the powers that be…with Title 9 Regulations, female soccer scholarships are over abundant, as compared to the males, and coaches really have their pick of top recruits due to that resource…

So this article isn’t about bashing the system…it’s about how to maximize the system and use it to your advantage…

It is more imperative now that we get our youth girls the proper foundation they need at the baby years…U6 to U12…these are the ages I have been preaching about all along…the crucial years that set the foundation for the rest of their careers and can’t be made up at later…

Players at U13 that display the creativity and intelligence taught in a possession based system will have the competitive advantage over athletic players that have been groomed on kick and chase only…

Remember, at U13 it is too late to make up for what you missed earlier…sure, you can pick it up, but never to the degree you would have in the initiation years…

So again, since a College Scholarship is the prize we are all looking for and college coaches are recruiting earlier and earlier…it only makes sense that parents understand this and give their kids that competitive advantage…U6 to U12 championships don’t mean anything in the grand scheme of things…we all better get a clue and get our kids with a coach that can bring out the creativity and intelligence that other players will never harness in a kickball environment…

Take a look at the article below….What do you think?
